In this book, Bauman Beyond Postmodernity, Bauman talks in detail about the style and stakes of his work. Like the fist book, it contains original conversations with Bauman and a detailed guide to his academic publications. In Bauman before Postmodernity, Bauman for the fist time talks about his emergence as a sociologist and reflects on the times in which he was destined to live. Political Science

This volume propose an examination of how globalization and transnational capitalism have reshaped the terrain and parameters of social, economic and political relations both at the national and the global levels. It discusses the essential question on whether the resilient hegemony of transnational capitalism can be possibly realized leading to alternative systems of organization. The overall aim of Reconceptualising NGOs and their roles in Development is to move forward the critical research agenda on NGOs by challenging its normative biases, using approaches drawn from a range of disciplinary perspectives including historical ethnography, organizational studies, political science, critical theory and anthropology. Despite the fact that tremendous effort and many resources have been invested in improving the performance of the CFP, the crisis in the EU fisheries management systems worsens year by year. This crisis has prevailed almost since the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) was first implemented in 1983. These notions form the framework for A Fisheries Management System in Crisis.

The aim of Perspectives on e-Government is to unfold some of the complexity of e-government by feeding tools for thinking into reflection-in-action and reflection-on-action. This is done through the presentation of the three perspectives on e-government and their interrelation: Technology and Infrastructure, Politics and Organisation, and Communication and Interaction.

Media Studies

Music composed with the purpose of selling consumer goods and services makes up a fair proportion of the songs, jingles and melodies we encounter on a daily basis. Nonetheless, music for commercial settings is largely neglected in research on popular music and in media studies. Music in Advertising is thus the first volume dealing exclusively with these various aspects of music in advertising.

The concept of aesthetics is traditionally connected with art and high culture (eg. literature, theatre, pictorial art), whereas mass media such as television are usually associated with a lack of aesthetics. Undoubtedly, most television programmes would fail if judged by the aesthetic standards and the valuation criteria of traditional art forms. In this anthology the notion of Interactive Television covers the entire spectrum of new multimedia content and services - from traditional TV sets to multimedia personal computers; from network computers to game consoles, and from terrestrial broadcasting over cable systems to satellite TV. Cultural Studies

Cultural Analysis describes intercultural understanding and co-action, partly by means of a general insight into the culture concept and the dimensions which bring about cultural differences, and partly as a methodology to analyse a concrete  culture, whether one's own or others. CST - An Introduction is a volume authored by present and past members of the English programme's teaching staff in the fields of culture, literature, and media studies. CST - Translantic offers interdisciplinary scholarship, bringing together explorations of transatlantic perspectives in arts, literature, history, philosophy and law. The volume is itself an expression of a transatlantic exchange. The contributors are all affiliated with either Aalborg University or Brenau University, two small research and educational institutions which have long experimented with transatlantic exchanges of students, faculty and scholarship.


Architecture

Harbourscape provides a comprehensive presentation of the different methodological approaches and the resulting design concept concerning the development and regeneration of the waterfront in Aalborg. The aim has been to investigate a full-scale dialogue on concepts and architectural quality in the waterfront development among stakeholders in this process, and to illustrate how different design-based methods can serve as tolls in the said process. This anthology focuses on the physical and social spaces of urban welfare. In a collage of chapters and reflections, the anthology attempts to explore the complexity of modern urban welfare. The basis for this work is the attempt of the welfare society to adapt to a role in which it not only will guarantee the socail policy agenda of the industrial society but also attempt to solve the growing consumption and environmental problems of the consumer society. Intelligent Design

The idea of intelligent design has given rise to some interesting epistemological, methodological and ontological questions, which are relevant for the formulation and understanding of science. In Intelligent Design. An Intellectual Challenge? a group of scientist and philosophers discuss these questions. Psychology

This book provides an overview of novel and significant research on emotional competences from psychological , clinical and pedagogical points of view. In The Aalborg PBL Model - Progress, Diversity and challenges, thirty teachers and researchers share their reflections on the practice of the problem-based and project-organized teaching model (PBL), which has been applied in the faculties of Engineering and Science, Humanities and Social Science at Aalborg University since the founding in 1974. Business studies

With this book, The Learning Perspective, which can be read by anyone interested in learning and changes in organisations, the authors want to describe some prerequisities for the initiation of procedures of learning and changes of organisations, and some possible relations between theory and practice.
